My Movies
I have always been a fan of film, specifically horror films. I doubt I would have ever been able to enjoy cinema when it was really popular in the 1930s or so, because the only film genres present than were gangster films and musicals. Although I appreciate old film, I am a fan of films that reflect my interests. The genres today are much more specific, which helps me easily narrow down the type of films I wish to see. I have always been interested in crime – I am always reading popular novels by Agatha Christie, Mary Higgins Clark, James Patterson, and more. Eventually my interest in crime transitioned over to films. I think the graphics and color today give a much more…realistic feel to some horror movies, which I like. Films before the 1950s were all black and white, which I personally do not find appealing. I like to see details in film, and color movies can provide that much more than black and white movies.
I do enjoy “chick flicks” every now and then, but I believe chick flicks are very superficial. I also enjoy Blockbusters every now and then, as they are usually films that are successful either because of the money they pull in, or the recognition. However, I do not stereotype Blockbusters. Just because they are successful does not mean they are good.
I enjoy going to the theatre, as it gives an experience that you cannot have at home with DVDS, but I am often content with staying at home and watching movies as well.
