("Library books" 19 December 2012)
In my humble opinion, my history and culture have impacted my identities more than my consumer level. However, I do have a small identity called “the consumer”. I buy clothes because it is a necessity. But why do I buy the specific clothes that I do? Is it because of the impact of Canadian culture? Or is it because it is my own personal preference? The point is, whenever I do consume (books, phones); what I consume is what represents my identities. And then I bond with others over my consuming. If I meet people who, let’s say, love books; I will automatically connect with them, because I love books as well.
