Middle-class and lower-class viewers of the show feel inferior, as they wish they could afford the same things; but they cannot. These products are cleverly placed in the show because it hints to the audience that if they buy these products, they will also obtain the lifestyle of the characters of the show: boys, popularity, beauty, etc.
